Atlanta Business Chronicle editor in chief Doug Sams is leaving the publication to become a senior reporter at the San Francisco Business Times, a sister publication.
He will start his new position on Dec. 1.
Managing editor Dean Anason will run the Business Chronicle newsroom while the paper searches for a new editor in chief.
Sams first joined the Chronicle is 2006 as its health care reporter before taking over the commercial real estate beat in 2007. He then spent more than a decade as its commercial real estate editor. He previously spent four years at the Gwinnett Daily Post.
Anason joined the American City Business Journals publication earlier this year.
He previously was managing editor of American Banker. In two stints at the publication that spanned nearly 17 years, Anason was national and consumer finance editor, M&A editor, Washington bureau chief and Capitol Hill reporter.
He also was an assistant business editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in between and began his career as the health care reporter for Atlanta Business Chronicle.
