Carla Sertin, Wired Middle East’s head of editorial content, writes about its relaunch.
Sertin writes, “When I started working on this issue, I wanted to focus on how the region has become one of the global focal points for technology, and where that might take us. Since then, the world has turned to look at the Middle East for other reasons. Yet regional clashes have only reinforced the need for sharp, responsible and fearless tech journalism in the region. It is in this spirit that I proudly introduce the first print edition of the newly relaunched WIRED Middle East – with a mission to inform, to inspire and to connect.
“Connection is at the heart of this issue. Ironically, it is one of the great dividing forces on the planet today. There is a clear distinction between people who have access to the internet and those who do not. Connectivity is no longer optional, it is essential infrastructure for progress – it is otherwise impossible to reach an audience, build an economy, stay informed or meaningfully take up space on the global stage.”
