Former Hewlett-Packard chairwoman Patricia Dunn and other former company executives pleaded not guilty to charges that they illegally obtained information about board members and business journalists to discover who was leaking information about the company.
Pete Carey of the San Jose Mercury News wrote, “Dunn, who ordered the investigation, and four others have been charged with four felony counts for using deception to obtain the personal phone records of board members, HP executives and nine reporters.
“Accompanied by her husband, William Jahnke, Dunn stood by lawyer Raj Chatterjee in a courtroom crowded with reporters and photographers and entered her plea at Santa Clara County Superior Court.
“Neither Dunn nor her attorney would comment after the hearing.
“Kevin Hunsaker, the former senior HP lawyer and ethics counsel who headed the investigation, pleaded not guilty at a hearing Nov. 7. The remaining three pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing.
“They are Ronald DeLia, head of Security Outsourcing Services and an outside contractor for HP; Matthew DePante, manager of Action Research Group, an information broker based in Florida; and Bryan Wagner, a former employee of ARG.”
