Longtime business journalist David Wilkerson died this past weekend. He was 50.
Wilkerson died in a house fire.
Wilkerson most recently had been working in Chicago as a reporter for Dealreporter and Mergermarket. As a member of the technology, media and telecom team, he focused his coverage on media, including broadcast and cable television, radio, digital advertising and ad tech, and newspaper and magazine publishing.
Most of his stories conveyed news and financial information related to company strategies, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring and recapitalization.
Wilkerson also worked for 16 years at MarketWatch.com in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago covering a variety of stories.
He was known for his Mr. T impersonation and being a fan of the Cleveland Indians.
