Senior writer Raftery leaves Wired

Brian Raftery

Brian Raftery, a senior writer at Wired, has left the news organization.

His last day was last week. He had been at Wired since December 2015 and was a contributing editor for six years before that.

Raftery was previously managing editor for Yahoo Movies and an associate editor at GQ. He was also a correspondent for Entertainment Weekly.

He’s currently working on a book for Simon & Schuster about the films of 1999 due to be published in the spring of 2019.

His features and profiles have appeared in such publications as Esquire, New York, SPIN and GQ, and he’s the author of two books: “Don’t Stop Believin’: How Karaoke Conquered the World and Changed My Life” (2009) and “High-Status Characters: How the Upright Citizens Brigade Stormed A City, Started A Scene, and Changed Comedy Forever” (2013).

His oral history of Purple Rain appeared in SPIN Greatest Hits: 25 Years of Heroes, Heretics, and the New Rock n’ Roll.
