Roanoke Business magazine announced that its December issue would be its last.
Publisher Bernie Niemeier wrote, “Telling the story of businesses in Roanoke, Blacksburg and the New River Valley as the region diversifies its economy has been exciting, but for an advertising-supported magazine it just hasn’t proven viable.
“Looking back, our team produced 54 monthly issues with high-quality coverage of the regional economy. We are proud of that work and stand behind it. Unfortunately, it will not continue. Ultimately, publishing is just like any other business; it takes a certain sales volume to be successful.
“On the other hand, our ongoing commitment to this region in the pages of Virginia Business continues unabated. The market for statewide advertising is robust, and Virginia Business delivers a substantial audience uniquely composed of business leaders from around the commonwealth. If anything, Roanoke Business has strengthened our local relationships in this region and for that we are extremely grateful.”
