Kieran Murray, the Washington bureau chief at Reuters, sent out the following announcement on Friday afternoon:
I’m delighted to announce that Damon Darlin, an editor at The New York Times and its policy, economics and politics site The Upshot, will be joining Reuters as Editor, Money and Politics in our Washington bureau.
Damon was at The Upshot for the last three years and before that worked for several years as technology editor and personal finance columnist at The New York Times.
Earlier in his career, Damon was a reporter at the The Wall Street Journal in Cleveland, Detroit, Tokyo and Seoul, as well as senior editor at Forbes and managing editor at U.S. News and World Report.
In our Washington bureau, Damon will focus on the major stories where business, economics and policy meet. He will manage a small team and will also work with reporters and editors from other teams to deliver enterprising and insightful coverage of issues ranging from technology and lobbying, to tax reform and trade, to healthcare and the economy.
For fun, Damon dotes on his dog and cooks offal and other oddities. He lives in Alexandria with his wife, Bonnie Campbell Lilienfeld, a senior curator at the Smithsonian’s American History museum.
Damon will report to me and he will start work in the bureau on October 1.
