Joe Schatz, editor of Politico States, sent out the following announcement:

Happy Friday everyone,

We’re very happy to announce that Darius Dixon, a great reporter and one of POLITICO’s most committed newsroom citizens, is joining our States team as an associate editor. He’ll be responsible for supporting our coverage in New York, Florida, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts and, in particular, California, where we launched a new Pro operation in January. Darius is a POLITICO Pro original – he left E&E News to join the federal Pro energy team at its inception back in 2010 – and has covered Energy Department policy, nuclear power, the electric grid and more in his time here. But anyone who’s been at a POLITICO Town Hall or a Darius-organized event knows that his contributions to POLITICO go far beyond his writing and reporting. Darius’s ability to forge connections across the newsroom makes him a great fit for this job, in which he’ll work alongside our editors in the states to ensure our state-based Pro coverage is second-to-none, and also play a role in editing our State Playbooks. Darius will report to Angela Greiling Keane, and he’ll start his new role at the end of April.
