The New York Times News Service & Syndicate has launched a new personal finance content package called “Spending Well: The Weekly Guide to Managing Your Money, Work and Success.”
The first edition appeared on Sunday, Feb. 15 in U-T San Diego (California), The Billings Gazette (Montana), Bangor Daily News (Maine) and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and their family of newspapers (the Hawaii Herald-Tribune, The Garden Island and West Hawaii Today), with more publications lined up to feature subsequent editions.
The coverage in the supplement, which is created by the reporters and columnists of The New York Times, is a practical and accessible mix of quick tips and planning pieces along with analysis and commentary pegged to real-world household concerns.
The personal management pieces offer discussions on subjects such as investing, homebuying, renting and maintenance; child care and elder care and finance-impacting life events. The pages will also feature New York Times columns, such as Your Money by Ron Leiber, DealBook by Andrew Ross Sorkin, and The Upshot by David Leonhardt.
Further columns and brief essays will highlight the balancing act of work and family responsibilities; managing technology, and accumulating and measuring wealth beyond finances. Disruptions, by Nick Bilton, Personal Tech, by Farhad Manjoo, and coverage from styles, home, travel and science are included.
Michael Greenspon, general manager, The New York Times News Services and International, said: “We recognize that now, more than ever, readers want stories that will help them manage their personal wealth, and balance their work and home life. This new supplement means that newspapers across the country can complement their own coverage with the quality journalism of The New York Times.”
