Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has promoted Anne Kates Smith to executive editor, overseeing all investment content for the magazine.

Since joining Kiplinger in 2001, Smith has covered a range of investing and personal finance-related topics. In recent years, she has served as editor of the “Ahead” section, which covers news and trends in all aspects of personal finance.

Although Smith is transitioning to a new role, she will continue to write Kiplinger’s ‘Investing Outlook’ features, which appear in the magazine’s January and July issues. She will also continue her column on behavioral finance and economics, “Your Mind & Your Money.”

“Anne has a successful track record of helping readers build and maintain investing plans that work in good and bad markets, and preserve financial security,” said Mark Solheim, editor of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, in a statement. “We look forward to her continued leadership, and congratulate her on a well-deserved promotion.”

Smith began her journalism career working as a business and investment writer. Prior to joining Kiplinger, Smith — a graduate of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland — was a writer and columnist for USA Today, a senior editor at U.S. News & World Report and a contributing columnist for TheStreet.
