Elena Cherney, coverage planning chief at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following announcement on Thursday:

I’m delighted to announce that Hillary Canada is appointed to the role of News Editor, Planning.

In her new job, Hillary will play a key role in coordinating plans for coverage across the newsroom. Her job is part of our ongoing efforts to get better at targeting the right stories to the right audiences at the right times, on the right platforms and with the appropriate visual treatment. She will report to me.

Hillary comes to the planning role from the Hub, where for the last two-and-a-half years she helped manage the night operation. She started at Dow Jones in the Private Markets team, reporting and editing for LBO Wire, a predecessor to Private Equity Pro, and managing the WSJ blog Private Equity Beat.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky, she has remained true to her roots by running an annual Derby Pool, which she says she will continue to run (and will also ensure it’s on the editorial calendar of events she is building).

Please join me in congratulating Hillary in her new role.

Elena
