Mike Shields, the advertising editor at Business Insider, is leaving the news organization.
His last day is Friday. Shields is becoming an independent communications and strategic consultant specializing in the media and advertising industries.
“I can’t say enough good things about Business Insider,” said Shields on Twitter. “I’ve had a blast working here. Have learned so much. If you’re a business journalist, this is where you want to be right now.”
Shields joined Business Insider in May 2017. He previously worked at The Wall Street Journal as advertising editor. Shields was previously digital editor at Adweek and senior editor at Digiday.
He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
