Bloomberg News senior executive editor John Fraher sent the following memo to the staff on Monday:
Hi all,I’m delighted to announce that Caroline Gage will succeed Christine Harper as Executive Editor for Global Finance. Caroline brings verve and enthusiasm to everything that she does, and I’m thrilled that she will now have a bigger platform on which to shine. I’m particularly excited about the fresh perspective that she will bring to the role as we try to break even more news and find new and compelling ways to tell the finance story.Caroline, who will remain in New York, has covered most beats since joining Bloomberg in 2005. As a reporter she covered credit markets and the New York Fed, breaking a ton of news along the way. She then went on to run our global fixed-income and currencies coverage before becoming Managing Editor for Global Business three years ago. We will put up a posting to succeed Caroline as Managing Editor for Global Business in the Americas on {PATH <GO>} very soon. However, I don’t want to let this moment go by without paying tribute to Christine, who has not only led global finance coverage since 2013 but has been a pillar of the team for more than 15 years.I’ve known Christine ever since I was an intern in the London office in 2000 and our paths have crossed at various times since then — mainly on snowy Alpine passes in Davos. I’ve always been struck by her wisdom, her dedication and her calm under pressure and she will be greatly missed. But she’s not going far away and I look forward to many of our best stories appearing in Bloomberg Markets in the months and years ahead. Caroline will undoubtedly have her own ideas on where to take coverage, but Christine has left her a strong team to do that with. Please join me in congratulating Caroline in her new job. I will be in London for the rest of the week and in New York all next week if you have any questions.Thank you all.
