Bloomberg News Washington bureau chief Craig Gordon sent out the following announcement on Thursday:

We have some promotions we’re highlighting:

Wendy Benjaminson, Managing Editor of the Washington bureau of McClatchy, will join Bloomberg to be Tax Team Leader in the Washington bureau.

Wendy formerly served as acting Washington bureau chief and in other roles for the Associated Press, so she brings a wealth of experience on fast-moving, quick-turn stories. She’s also led high-level enterprise and investigative work, as her teams’ projects on the drug war and nuclear-weapons missteps were nominated for Pulitzer Prizes by the AP. We know she has a bright future ahead at Bloomberg. She starts Feb. 4.

Kasia Klimasinska is being promoted to Team Leader of the Breaking News Washington desk

We now know Kasia as a headliner extraordinaire, but she also had a long and varied career as a Bloomberg reporter, from covering companies in Poland, to energy in Houston to ultimately, the Treasury Department in Washington. That global reporting background will serve her well as we sync up our team with Executive Editor Madeleine Lim‘s Breaking News teams around the world, and as we call on the DC desk to move into blasts and other story forms.

Greg Sullivan will serve as Deputy Team Leader on the Breaking News Washington desk to help Kasia and the team manage the round-the-clock, around-the-world news flow. He will be key to integrating new speed tools to allow DC to more efficiently monitor social media and turn headlines more quickly.
