Bob Blau, who oversees the investigations and projects team at Bloomberg News, and Bloomberg Businessweek editor Ellen Pollock sent out the following announcement on Monday:
Please join us in welcoming Robert Kolker, who will start on January 25, and be based in New York. Bob will be a member of the Projects and Investigations team, and write for Bloomberg Businessweek, which has become the happy home of much of P&I’s work.
He brings a combination of narrative grace and reporting skill that define our most ambitious stories. In his 17 years at New York Magazine, Bob produced a body-of-work impressive for its range and depth. He covered true-crime sagas on Wall Street, in Hollywood and in urban America. He profiled Preet Bharara, Marc Dreier, Oprah Winfrey, David Letterman, Cardinal Timothy Dolan and the victims of Bernie Madoff. Bob’s cover story about the Long Island serial-killer case became the basis of his 2013 book Lost Girls, a New York Times best seller and one of Publisher’s Weekly‘s Top Ten books of that year. His 2006 investigation into sexual abuse in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community helped bring an abuser to justice and was named a National Magazine Award finalist.
And finally, this past year he contributed several pieces to Bloomberg Businessweek, so he’s already familiar with where to find the snacks on the sixth floor.
