Mike Cronin has has been hired to cover technology, startup and finance sectors for the Austin Business Journal.

Editor Colin Pope writes, “Cronin, who has two decades of award-winning journalism experience under his belt, most recently worked for the Asheville Citizen-Times, part of the USA Today Network, in Asheville, North Carolina. He has also reported for the Associated Press, The Arizona Republic, Minnesota Public Radio News, Bill Moyers and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review — where he covered technology and founded the cybersecurity beat.

“At the ABJ, Cronin — whose hometown is Norwich, Connecticut — will be tasked with covering large companies such as Dell Inc., Facebook Inc. and Apple Inc. in addition to the bevy of startups that form the backbone of Austin’s stout tech scene. Fundings will be a focus.

“‘The tech beat is understandably a flagship beat at the ABJ,’ Market President and Publisher Heather Ladage said. ‘News about heavyweights making moves here, mixed with stories of up-and-coming tech startups, are a source of business intelligence and leads for professionals in just about every sector — and there’s no shortage of it.'”
