Carl Bialik, who wrote the Numbers Guy column for The Wall Street Journal, said goodbye to his colleagues in an email sent late Sunday night.
Bialik wrote:
Monday is my last day at the Journal, nearly 12 years after I started on the WSJ.com night shift, in South Brunswick on Super Bowl Sunday. The WSJ took me to places I never imagined alongside some of the world’s best and brightest journalists. It’s been a long, fun trip, via Harborside, three different New York offices and London, with side trips this year to Luxembourg, San Marino and Belgrade. Along the way: a WSJ.com internship, the night shift, the Daily Fix column, WSJ.com tech coverage, the Numbers Guy column, blog outreach, the online Count column and Statshot.

Bialik holds a degree in mathematics and physics from Yale University.
