Bill Carter of the New York Times writes Wednesday that CNBC‘s Larry Kudlow has decided not to run for the U.S. Senate in Connecticut.
Carter writes, “Mr. Kudlow said that although it had been a flattering idea, and one he had thought about, ‘It was never a serious proposition.’ He said, ‘I know that I belong right here at CNBC.’
“He decided, Mr. Kudlow said, after journalists had called CNBC about reports that he might be considering the race and raised questions about conflicts that might arise.
“Asked whether CNBC’s president, Mark Hoffman, had told Mr. Kudlow he needed to choose between running for office and remaining on CNBC, a network spokesman said Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Kudlow and other CNBC executives would not comment.
“Brian Steel, the spokesman, said, however, ‘Larry was never seriously considering it.'”
