Editor Rick Thames of the Charlotte Observer writes that the paper’s business section will cut its stock listings on Tuesday and begin using the Associated Press’ “Money & Markets” page.
Thames wrote, “More than 200 readers advised us on how best to reduce the size of our stock listings so we could accommodate the Money & Markets report. (You may recall the notes we ran with the listings in May, inviting readers to call or write.)
“Their input helped determine which stocks were essential to our list of about 300 (down from roughly 2,000) that will continue to run in our ‘Readers’ Choice’ feature. We’ve also kept ‘Carolinas Inc.,’ a list of roughly 100 Carolinas-oriented companies, as well as the nation’s 200 largest mutual funds.
“Also, these lists will now appear in larger type, making them easier to read.
“If we’ve missed a stock or fund of particular importance to you, call or write using the contact information listed in the package. To the extent possible, we’ll amend the lists.”
