Samantha West will be joining Chalkbeat Tennessee to cover Shelby County Schools, the largest school district in Tennessee.
Previously, she was a K-12 education/family reporter at Gannett’s USA Today Network.
West has also worked as an education reporter, social media manager, and web editor at the Leader-Telegram. She also interned at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and was an Ann Devroy fellow at The Washington Post.
West earned her bachelor’s degree in English and journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
