Audrey Cooper, who joined San Francisco Chronicle in 2006 as an assistant metro editor, has stepped down from her current post of editor-in-chief.
Cooper was the first female to hold this post for the publication. Throughout her time at the Chronicle, Cooper has held numerous roles, including metro editor, assistant managing editor, deputy managing editor, managing editor and executive editor.
Cooper has also been a member of the board of advisors for Global Mentor Network.
In addition, she has been a board member of The Poynter Institute, News Leaders Association, Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund and American Society of News Editors.
She has also served as an environmental reporter and metro editor at The Record and has also worked as a reporter at both The Associated Press and Tri-Valley Herald.
Cooper graduated from Boston University with a degree in journalism and political science.
