Stan Wischnowski, editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer has resigned from his post “following backlash on social media from a controversial “Buildings Matter, Too” headline,” reports Fox Business.
Publisher Lisa Hughes made the announcement on Saturday and thanked him for his 20 years of service.
Wischnowski will formally leave the paper on June 12.
In the meantime, managing editor Patrick Kerkstra and editor Gabe Escobar will lead the newsroom.
Before becoming executive editor and senior vice president at the Inquirer, Wischnowski was vice president, news operations for Philadelphia Media Network, Philly.com, Inquirer and Daily News.
He joined the publication in 2000 as a news editor. He held several roles during his career with the company, including serving as assistant managing editor, deputy managing editor, editor and executive editor.
In addition, he has also served as a deputy managing editor and news editor at Democrat and Chronicle and The Detroit News, respectively.
