Aimee Ortiz, who wrote numerous breaking news stories ranging from local news to international on the Express desk since last year, will now be joining the Investigations desk as the New York Times’ newest reporter administering the paper’s tip line.
She will be working on expanding the Times’ ambitions to make the already prolific resource more effective both within the newsroom and for its readers.
Previously, Ortiz was at Boston Globe Media for more than 4 years. There, she held numerous roles, including digital content producer, reporter, digital content producer – Opinion and Ideas, and Boston Globe editorial board member.
She has also worked as a managing editor at Chimaera Labs and was a contributor at BDCWire.com and Spare Change News. She was also a marketing and communications coordinator at JournalismNext.com.
She also freelanced at the Voice of Downtown Boston and interned at the Christian Science Monitor.
Additionally, she has also worked at USA Today, the Boston University Graduate School of Medicine, Boston University, Boston University Study Abroad Program, Time Out Sydney and Boston University Daily Free Press.
Ortiz is a B.S. in journalism from Boston University.
