Sherry Chisenhall, executive editor and president of The Charlotte Observer, will be leaving in September.
Chisenhall joined the paper in 1986. During her 13 years, she served as an assigning editor, reporter and copy editor.
She then left to join The Wichita Eagle, where she spent more than 16 years in various roles, including managing editor, and editor and senior VP, news.
She again joined the Observer in 2016 as a managing editor. Chisenhall was also a copy editor at The Sun-Herald and has served as editor-in-chief, sports editor and opinion page editor at the Daily Egyptian.
Chisenhall has a B.S. in journalism and political science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
