Ellen Barry is joining the New York Times health and science desk as its mental health reporter. Recently, she served as the New England bureau chief, based in Boston.
Barry joined The Times in 2007, and since then has served as a correspondent in Russia, South Asia bureau chief and an international correspondent based in London. During her time in Russia, she won a Pulitzer Prize and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for feature writing while serving as South Asia bureau chief.
She was also Delhi bureau chief.
Previously, she was a reporter at The Boston Globe, where she was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for beat reporting.
Barry graduated from Yale University.
