Paul Volpe, a gifted editor with extensive experience covering big stories and working at the nexus of journalism and technology, will lead the newsroom cohort.
He returns to The Times from Politico, where he was executive editor and senior editor for emerging products. Before Politico, Paul spent six years at The Times as a deputy Washington bureau chief and a deputy politics editor.
Susanna Timmons has won fans across the newsroom for her sharp line editing, strong commitment to standards and poise on deadline.
She has been a senior staff editor in Culture for the last three years. As Culture’s liaison to the Standards team, Susanna has kept the department’s editors up to speed on changes in style guidelines and best practices. She joined The Times from The Los Angeles Times in 2012 as a homepage producer. She has held positions on the SWAT team (a precursor of the Flex desk) and with the video department, and helped launch the Overlooked project.
Also embedding with the team will be Seth Carlson from Ham Boardman’s newsroom product desk.
Seth has been a key link between the newsroom and product for nearly a decade.
