Niemeyer joins NY Times newsroom SEO team

Victoria Niemeyer

The following announcement was sent out by The New York Times deputy audience director, news SEO, Claudio E. Cabrera:

We’re delighted to announce that Victoria Niemeyer will be joining the newsroom SEO team as SEO strategy and operations manager. She will work closely with both the editorial and technical SEO teams to streamline their workflows, bolster communication, and scale their work.

Victoria comes to us from the Audience Product team where she was a program manager focused on technical SEO and internal tools. In her time with Audience Product, she was no stranger to SEO; she embedded with the SEO team on live events throughout the pandemic and the 2020 election cycle and worked with the Audience team on new remote processes.

“Victoria has been a core part of the Audience Product team’s success over the last two years — from building a supportive and energetic team culture, to responding at all hours to SEO issues during major news events, to revamping the organizational model of the team to drive quality and delivery, to partnering with other teams all over the building to improve our SEO performance across our site,” said Ben Cotton, a Vice President of Product.

In her time working with the newsroom, Victoria also helped identify areas of improvement on our live coverage, technical SEO fixes, and helped create tools, bots and workflow improvements. She recently embedded with the SEO team for the NFL Draft and helped lead us to a search victory over major competitors like ESPN, CBS Sports and the Washington Post.

She will report to me and oversee our associate SEO news editor, who will be hired in the coming month.

Before coming to the Times, Victoria worked in software development as a program manager and on SEO and digital audience development in the agency world.

Please join us in congratulating Victoria on her new role.
