Washington Post taps Attiah as opinion columnist

Karen Attiah

The Washington Post has named Karen Attiah an opinion columnist covering race, international affairs, culture, and human rights.

In her new role, she will be contributing to the new Voices Across America initiative.

Attiah has been with Тhe Post for more than 7 years and was the founding editor of the Post’s Global Opinions. Most recently she served as a writer and editor in that section.

Her work has also appeared in Voice of America, Al Jazeera, Associated Press, Haitian Times, Huffington Post and other international publications.

She has also been featured on CNN, MSNBC, BBC, NPR, and CBC.

She has also worked at The World Bank, Freedom House, Sahara Reporters and America Abroad Media.

Attiah has won various awards, including the 2019 George Polk Special Award, and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Freedom Writer Award.

She was also the winner of the 2019 Journalist of the Year Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, and was named to the 2019 Root 100 list.

She was also featured in Essence Magazine’s ‘Woke 100’ list for 2019.

Attiah is the author of the forthcoming book “Say Your Word, Then Leave”, to be published by Dey Street Books in Spring 2021.
