The Telegraph has hired Theo Merz as deputy foreign editor, a role in which he will be working with the Telegraph World News in London, and with correspondents and freelancers all over the world.
Merz joins from AFP, where he worked for over 6 years, most recently as a correspondent in Russia. Before that, he was a journalist for the Asa-Pacific news desk.
Prior to that, Merz was a journalist at the Telegraph Media Group. He was also an editorial board member at The Chartered Institute of Linguistics.
He has also written for The Moscow News, The Economist, The Guardian, and Vice, among others.
Merz graduated from Oxford University.
