Mashal named South Asia correspondent at New York Times

Mujib Mashal

Mujib Mashal has been covering Afghanistan for the past five years, reports The New York Times.

Now, he will be taking on the role of South Asia correspondent based in Delhi for the Times.

Previously, Mashal was a reporter and senior correspondent at the Times. Initially, he also worked as a local reporter, Kabul bureau for the company.

In addition, Mashal has also worked at Al Jazeera English, covering breaking news stories and writing features, mostly on Afghanistan and the larger South Asia. He was also a compiler at Afghan Oral History Project and served as editor and contributing writer at Awaaz: The Voice of South Asia.

He has also served as researcher at Center for Conflict and Peace Studies.

Mashal is a graduate of Columbia College.
