Ho named assignment editor, news analytics at Washington Post

Sophie Ho

The Washington Post has promoted Sophie Ho to the post of assignment editor, news analytics.

In her new role, Ho will manage a news analytics editor and continue to be the bridge between the newsroom and the companywide analytics and big data teams. She will also build the framework for tracking the largest storylines and content across sections.

She will aim to raise the overall newsroom data fluency through training and tools.

Ho joined the Post as an audience engagement intern in 2016. She then held the post of digital engagement editor, before being promoted to operations editor. Most recently, she was newsroom audience analyst.

Ho was also a founding member of the Operations team, doing stints working with Financial and National/Politics in 2018.

Prior to that, she was a production intern at Loteria Films. She has also worked as an editorial intern at both East Bay Express and AJ+. She was also an executive news editor at The Daily Californian, an independent, student-run newspaper.

Ho was also a digital media intern at WTOP News and an editorial intern at Los Altos Town Crier.

Ho is a B.A. in political science from UC Berkeley.
