Gilfillian joins McClatchy as South Carolina opinion editor

Trudi Gilfillian is now the opinion editor for McClatchy’s South Carolina papers, including The State Newspaper and The Sun News.

She also provides mentorship to early-career journalists at Report for America. She was also director of communications at NJ Business Action Center and assistant director of journalism at Oregon State University.

She was also a news adviser at The Daily Collegian, the student-run newspaper at Pennsylvania State University. She was also a staff writer and weekend editor at The Press of Atlantic City. She was also a city columnist/city reporter at The Courier, Conroe Texas.

She has also reported for Princeton Packet publications and written for Times-Beacon Newspapers.

Gilfillian graduated from Texas A&M University.
