CBC News hires Pugliese as managing editor of investigative

CBC News has appointed Karyn S. Pugliese as managing editor, investigative.

Recently, she was an assistant professor at Ryerson University, which she joined in 2020 while completing a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University.

She has also worked at Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, where she was director of news and current affairs, and then served as a consultant. She was also a host/managing producer at ichannel.

In addition, she has also worked at VisionTV, CBC and CTV.

She was president of the Canadian Association of Journalists and still sits on the National Board of Directors. She is a board member of Canadian Journalists for Free Expression and is a Journalists for Human Rights Ambassador.

She has also won numerous awards, including Free Press Award 2019, Hyman Solomon Award for Public Policy, 2019, Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism 2017, AJ Charles Bury Award 2016, and 3 Native American Journalism Awards for reporting.

Pugliese has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and history and a master’s degree in history from Carleton University.
