Freelancer Thackray joins The Independent as deputy travel editor

The Independent has hired Lucy Thackray as deputy travel editor.

Thackray is also a freelance writer and editor, and has previously served as acting senior editor at Cedar Communications. She was also junior content manager and then served as digital editor, High Life & Business Life, at the company.

She was also commissioning editor, The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, at News UK.

She was also a features assistant at ELLE Magazine.

Thackray has a B.A. in English literature and a postgraduate diploma in magazine journalism from Cardiff University.
