CNN has promoted Marcus Mabry to the post of senior vice president of content strategy and global programming for CNN Digital Worldwide.
Mabry will be overseeing the digital programming team that connects CNN’s journalism to global audiences through the CNN.com homepage and mobile and off-platform.
Mabry came to CNN in 2016 to lead the mobile programming team. Before that, he was the first North American editor of Twitter Moments, the social platform’s news product.
He has also worked at The New York Times, Mabry served as international business editor, national politics editor, editor-at-large and a senior editor at the international edition based in Paris, where he conceived and led the Times’ first global news blog, IHT Rendezvous.
Mabry was also at Newsweek, where he worked as a business editor, state department correspondent, Paris correspondent and Africa bureau chief based in Johannesburg.
He has also interned at the Boston Globe.
He was previously the president of the Overseas Press Club of America and an Edward R. Murrow Fellow at The Council on Foreign Relations. He is a trustee of The Lawrenceville School, The Quad Preparatory School, International Schools Services and The Oliver Scholars Program.
He has also authored two books.
Mabry has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Stanford.
