Yahoo’s Task named to SABEW board

Aaron Task, editor in chief of Yahoo Finance, has been appointed to join the board of governors of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

Task, who oversees all original content for the site and the Yahoo! Finance newsroom, is also the host of “The Daily Ticker” on Yahoo! Finance, where he offers insights on the most important business stories of the day, including politics, the economy, investing, Wall Street, corporate leadership and company earnings.

“Aaron has been a dedicated supporter of SABEW for many years, attending our conferences, moderating panels and speaking at events, and we are thrilled to have him on the board,” said SABEW president Marty Wolk, managing editor of MSN Money, in a statement

Aaron’s appointment lasts through SABEW’s annual conference in April 2015 in Chicago, when he will have a chance to run for a full, three-year term. He replaces former Los Angeles Times business editor Marla Dickerson, who left the country earlier this year to become Brazil bureau chief of The Wall Street Journal.

SABEW still needs to replace former AP business editor Kevin Shinkle on its board. Shinkle left business journalism last month to become head of corporate communications at Delta.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
