WSJ reporter joins Inquirer as deputy editorial page editor

Paul Davies, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal who covered the federal courts and white-collar crime, is leaving the paper to become deputy editorial page editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

A short story in the Inquirer stated, “He worked at the Philadelphia Daily News from 1997 to 2004, where his stories on predatory lending led to the convictions of two people, and was a finalist for a Gerald Loeb Award.

“Jackson said Davies’ reporting showed a passion for helping the helpless that will make him a very good editorial writer and editor.

“Davies has also been a reporter for Worth magazine; the New Haven, Conn., Register; the Lakeland, Fla., Ledger; and the Salisbury, Md., Times. He began his career as an Inquirer suburban correspondent.

“He graduated from the University of Delaware and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia.”
