Joanna Chung, who is the law bureau chief at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following job announcement on Friday:
I’m pleased to announce a new appointment to the Journal’s Law Bureau. Chris Matthews has taken charge in Manhattan’s federal courthouse and will spearhead our coverage of major cases and trials, from insider trading and cybercrime to terrorism and corporate fraud.
Chris previously wrote about companies’ dirty laundry for WSJ Risk and Compliance Journal in Washington. In his two years there, he broke stories on GlaxoSmithKline’s bribery scandal in China and the Justice Department’s enforcement of anti-corruption laws. Before that, he worked at the publication Main Justice covering the Justice Department’s financial fraud enforcement efforts.
Chris has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College. He is a suffering Houston Texans fan, a former lacrosse player and coach, and a comic book geek. He is not related to the other Chris Matthews and does not play “hardball.”
