WSJ hires TechCrunch’s Roof to cover venture capital

Katie Roof of TechCrunch has been hired by The Wall Street Journal to work on its WSJ Pro Venture Capital publication covering startups and venture capital.

She started on Monday. The team is now led by Alec Davis, formerly the news editor for the team.

Roof was a senior writer and video host at TechCrunch. She also co-hosted TechCrunch’s “Equity” podcast about tech finance.

Previously, Roof was a tech reporter for FoxBusiness.com and has been a contributor at Reuters, TheStreet and Forbes.  She has held television production roles at CNN and Bloomberg Television.

Roof has a Master’s in Business Journalism from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at San Diego.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
