The sequinned dress was on. Her hair had been professionally styled, and a makeup artist had expertly applied a red-carpet-ready look, from lipstick to false eyelashes.
“‘And then my water broke,’ she says. ‘I said, ‘Guys, someone get a picture of me now, because I’m going to the hospital.’ ‘
“Bowers was wheeled into the delivery room at Sibley Memorial in full formal get-up, to the amusement of the labor nurses.”
