Becky BowersEmily Heil of The Washington Post writes about how Wall Street Journal economics editor Becky Bowers got dressed up for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night — and then went into labor a month early.

Heil writes, “Bowers, who wasn’t due for nearly another month, was in a suite at the Washington Hilton on Saturday that she and her colleagues were using to get glammed up. The sequinned dress was on. Her hair had been professionally styled, and a makeup artist had expertly applied a red-carpet-ready look, from lipstick to false eyelashes.

“‘And then my water broke,’ she says. ‘I said, ‘Guys, someone get a picture of me now, because I’m going to the hospital.’ ‘

“Bowers was wheeled into the delivery room at Sibley Memorial in full formal get-up, to the amusement of the labor nurses.”
