WSJ corrects story calling Russian president “Vladimir Trump”

The Wall Street Journal has corrected a story calling Russian president Vladimir Putin the name “Vladimir Trump,” reports Aris Folley of The Hill.

Folley writes, “‘Vladimir Putin is president of Russia. An editing mistake misidentified Mr. Putin in an earlier version of this article. (Nov. 29),’ the publication noted at the bottom of an article reporting President Trump‘s cancellation of a planned meeting with Putin at the Group of 20 summit this week. Trump had cited Russia’s recent seizure of three Ukrainian naval ships in canceling the face-to-face.

“The Journal’s error caught the attention of many on social media who found it humorous — and some who even went as far as to claim it was intentional.

“Trump has received criticism throughout his presidency over his efforts to form a closer relationship with the Russian leader, despite heightened tensions between the two governments, including over Moscow’s aggression in Ukraine and its meddling in the 2016 elections, which the intelligence community says was done to help elect Trump.”
