Washington Biz Journal hires Amazon reporter

Washington Business Journal editor Doug Fruehling sent out the following announcement on Monday:

I’m happy to announce that Jonathan Capriel will join the WBJ family on Tuesday. He’ll be taking on the new Amazon growth-related beat, which means he’ll be tackling a variety of stories on HQ2’s impact on our region.

Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Memphis and spent one year as a data and metro reporter at the Tampa Bay Times. He had internships at The Baltimore Sun, Scripps Howard Foundation Wire and The Commercial Appeal in Memphis. He was a 2018 finalist for local reporting for The Livingston Awards for Young Journalists.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
