Andrew Wallenstein, chief media analyst and president of Variety Intelligence Platform, sent out the following:

As Variety Intelligence Platform heads into its fourth month of operation, I’m happy to report we’re off to a solid start. To keep the momentum going, I’m happy to announce two hires joining the VIP team this month.

Heidi Chung comes to us from Yahoo Finance, where she caught our eye for her sharp work as an on-air reporter covering the financial markets. She’s going to serve a dual role for VIP both as a writer who will train her analytical eye on the balance sheets of the media and tech companies and as an on-air correspondent who will join Variety video’s growing roster of distinctive voices. Covering the entertainment industry from a financial perspective is a big priority across Variety, and we expect Heidi to play an important role in that effort. She’s currently moving from NY back to her native LA and will start July 27th.

Helene Goldsen is also joining VIP as an editorial manager, where she will play a key role in supporting the team’s operations. Helene has already worked with members of the VIP team in past years as a freelance editor on Variety500, where we learned her eye for detail and copy-editing chops would be a real asset. Helene brings a wealth of experience to the table having served in top editing posts at Los Angeles Times magazine, Los Angeles Daily News and EOnline. She starts in LA today.

Please join me in welcoming them to the team!
