Variety names New York bureau chief

Variety has promoted Ramin Setoodeh to the newly created post of New York bureau chief.

A story on its website states, “Setoodeh, who joined Variety in September 2013, will work closely with the company’s team of writers and editors in the New York office, helping expand breaking news coverage and longform features on the movie, television, digital and theater businesses for the weekly magazine and daily website.

“He will also help grow Variety’s powerhouse brand on national and local TV news programs, and continue assisting in the brainstorming, booking and expansion of Variety-branded events and conferences in New York.

“‘Ramin has proven himself to be an invaluable part of our entire organization,’ said Claudia Eller,Variety Co-Editor-In-Chief. ‘His smart, insightful business coverage has contributed mightily to the resurgence of Variety as the industry’s leading news source on all things entertainment.'”
