OLD Media Moves

Thorne named Albany Biz Review publisher

Walter Thorne

Walter Thorne has been named market president and publisher of the Albany Business Review, effective July 1.

Editor in chief Melissa Mangini writes, “Thorne joined the Business Review in 2019 as advertising director. Prior to joining ACBJ, he worked at Advance Media, Albany Broadcasting Co. and had a long career with Rexair LLC.

“Thorne succeeds Cindy Applebaum, who will be retiring from the position.

“Thorne said working with Applebaum over the past 18 months has been impactful and prepared him well for this opportunity.

“‘I couldn’t be more proud to be named the new publisher and lead the Albany Business Review at a time when the business community has been faced with so many challenges over the past year and continues to swiftly adapt and push forward,’ Thorne said. ‘The Business Review has been the heartbeat of our business community and a place for people to turn for the news needed to help move their businesses forward. My goal is for the ABR to continue being that resource. I also want our work to help bridge gaps within the business community as we all move toward being more diverse and inclusive. I look forward to serving this community.'”
