TheStreet names Murphy its managing editor

Tara Murphy, who worked for TheStreet.com as a reporter more than 15 years ago, has been named its managing editor.

Murphy is helping oversee construction that begin this month on a redesigned newsroom that will house the combined editorial teams for TheStreet and The Deal.

For the past four years, Murphy has been running Katya Inc., a fashion company.

Before that, she was director of business development for the New York Daily News and director of business development for Hearst Digital Media. She was also managing editor of Cosmopolitan.com.

Murphy also worked as a senior anchor on the Forbes.com video network and institutional equity sales at Merrill Lynch. She is a University of Maryland graduate.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
