Tech news site The Information has opened a Hong Kong bureau and hired Bloomberg News reporter Shai Oster to run the office.
Asia is one of the fastest-growing regions for The Information subscriptions.
Oster joins The Information after reporting on venture capital and technology in China for Bloomberg, where he had earlier been an investigative reporter. Prior to this, Oster reported from China on behalf of the Wall Street Journal, and he was part of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting about the effects of China’s capitalism boom on inequality.

Before working at The Journal and Bloomberg, Oster covered OPEC for Dow Jones Newswires in London and served as Beijing bureau chief for Asiaweek magazine. His first job in China was as a copy editor at China Daily, the official English-language newspaper in Beijing.
A graduate of the Columbia University Journalism School, Oster was born in Jerusalem and speaks Hebrew, French and Chinese.
