The Economist has hired Don Weinland to the role of China business and finance editor.
His previous role was at the Financial Times’ Beijing bureau, where he had worked since January 2016. He will cover Chinese business and finance from Hong Kong.
Weinland had also worked for the South China Morning Post as its China banking correspondent and the China Economic Review as a staff writer.
He was also deputy business editor of the Phnom Penh Post. Weinland is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno.
