Matt Swider, the editor in chief of TechRadar, where he became known for tracking what retailers had PS5 and Xbox consoles in stock, is leaving his post to launch a Substack called “The Shortcut” where he will offer a variety reporting around tech products.
Swider plans to offer restock news about popular items like the PS5 and Xbox Series X, which his what more than 1 million followers on Twitter know him for.
He will also be writing recommendations and reviews about certain tech products — everything from drones to laptops — to help “later adopters” who prefer not to compare specs across different product websites.
Swider’s move is part of a trend of journalists moving to Substack to pursue greater ownership and control over their work.
He currently is writing a newsletter on Revue, but is moving everything over to Substack.
